Hello and welcome to The Compost Bin. I'm Compostwoman and I live with my family in rural Herefordshire. We have nearly four acres of garden and woodland, all managed organically, which we share with Chickens, Cats, Guinea Pigs and assorted wildlife. We also grow a lot of our own food, run courses in all sorts of things and make a lot of compost!

I work as an environmental educator, lecturer, writer and Forest School leader at Moors Wood . I am a Master Composter and have spent the last 11 years as a volunteer Community Compost adviser with Garden Organic and my local Council. I offer talks and run workshops and events where we talk about compost, veg growing, chicken keeping, cooking, preserving and sustainable living. We also make crafts and have fun.

We try to live a more self sufficient lifestyle here, as best we can, while still having a comfortable life and lots of fun. To learn more about us click on the About Compostwoman tab and remember to click on the photos to make them full size!

Compostgirl goes to Ancient Egypt.

Compostgirl has been invited to a birthday party today with an Ancient Egypt theme. She decided she would like to go as a Princess.

So we had a look on the web and found a few sites with ideas to make suitable jewelery (out of printed card, coloured in!) and some suggestions as to what to wear. We ended up with a white tee shirt of her Dad's, belted in with a big glittery belt tp look like a linen dress. I used some make up eye pencil, eye shadow and lipstick to give her a "Cleopatra" make up, she had a glittery belt and a home made headband and necklace.

And this is how she looked just before the party!

She was very happy with how she looks and I must say I was pleased, too!
