Hello and welcome to The Compost Bin. I'm Compostwoman and I live with my family in rural Herefordshire. We have nearly four acres of garden and woodland, all managed organically, which we share with Chickens, Cats, Guinea Pigs and assorted wildlife. We also grow a lot of our own food, run courses in all sorts of things and make a lot of compost!

I work as an environmental educator, lecturer, writer and Forest School leader at Moors Wood . I am a Master Composter and have spent the last 11 years as a volunteer Community Compost adviser with Garden Organic and my local Council. I offer talks and run workshops and events where we talk about compost, veg growing, chicken keeping, cooking, preserving and sustainable living. We also make crafts and have fun.

We try to live a more self sufficient lifestyle here, as best we can, while still having a comfortable life and lots of fun. To learn more about us click on the About Compostwoman tab and remember to click on the photos to make them full size!

Happy Birthday Compostgirl

14 years ago today we welcomed Compostgirl into our lives :) and look at her now :)

Not surprisingly she had a new bow and quiver and other archery related stuff from us :)

As well as various other archery related items from friends. The hat and mobile phone case are excellent - its a target face and she wore it all day :)

We went out with friends in the afternoon to watch the Christmas lights "Switch on"  in Ledbury. Lots to see and do in town - for such a small market town we put on a good show :)

Compostgirl had a wander around with her friends while we looked in charity shops and had a coffee.

Later it was time to settle down to watch "Atlantis"  after Compostgirl's favourite dinner of roast chicken and all the trimmings.

And to do a birthday present Jackie Morris jigsaw watched by her new Celestine and the Hare Mary's sister felted bear - who Compostgirl has called Harriet Olivia :)  Still wearing the target hat :)

Today was such fun and tomorrow we are off to Ludlow to the Medieval Fair :)
