Hello and welcome to The Compost Bin. I'm Compostwoman and I live with my family in rural Herefordshire. We have nearly four acres of garden and woodland, all managed organically and to Permaculture principles, which we share with Chickens, Cats and assorted wildlife. We also grow a lot of our own food, run courses in all sorts of things and make a lot of compost!

I am a Master Composter and have spent more than a decade as a volunteer Community Compost adviser with Garden Organic and my local Council.
I'm a self employed Environmental Educator so I run workshops and events where I talk about compost, veg growing, chicken keeping, cooking, preserving and sustainable living. I also run crafts workshops and Forest School/outdoor play sessions in our wood.

We try to live a more self sufficient lifestyle here, as best we can, while still having a comfortable life and lots of fun.

Farewell to Eden #BLEMAY

So, up far too early after a 4 am bedtime (!)  and said farewell to the Snoozebox - I have really enjoyed staying there! Was rather tired though as after we left the Eden party we carried on and partied at the YHA common room until the early hours  - lots of fun though. I have not danced like that for years and it is a long time since I stayed up until 4 am!

We had a last treat in store - a visit to People and Gardens an amazing CIC project which I was keen to see.

it was amazing and inspiring

I have serious greenhouse envy :)

In the tropical greenhouse they grow plants for the Eden Biomes

Yes, those are Pineapples!

Then it was back on the coach to go to the station -time to say good bye to some new good friends :(

I am not sure what St Austell station made of us lot though :)

However some of us were together on the train all the way up to Bristol. Here are some BLE May friends- such an adorable baby and such a lovely kind woman :) Lovely baby gave me lots of cuddles and smiles on the train :)

Then I had another few hours alone on busy commuter trains, before I finally got home to Ledbury station and then home proper, to check on everything and everyone and make sure all were ok :)

Finally, just a reminder that if  I can overcome my (really very serious) bad fear of heights to stand at the edge of this bridge and let go of the rail - I can overcome ANYTHING!

Sunday at Eden #BLEMAY

Sunday started with breakfast at the Snoozebox then back down to Eden for more workshops and talks.

I love these driftwood sculptures by the entrance to Eden

Some of us talked about our idea for community involvement projects - this is me talking about the community composting/ food growing /cooking/horticultural therapy project I am involved with

More fab food for lunch :)

In the afternoon we had a group photo on this bridge. I am terrified ( almost phobic) about heights so had not used this bride but with the support of all my lovely friends I walked over it and stood at the edge for the photo :)

Christine, one of the BLE Eden catalysts ( Regional co coordinators) talking about what happens next to us now we have been on a BLE Camp and how we can continue to network.

During the weekend an amazing team of artists took photos of us and turned them into these original, fantastic artwork postcards.

Our weekend ended with an inspirational talk by Chris Hines, founder of Surfers Against Sewerage

a fabulous dinner and then we partied :)
