Hello and welcome to The Compost Bin. I'm Compostwoman and I live with my family in rural Herefordshire. We have nearly four acres of garden and woodland, all managed organically and to Permaculture principles, which we share with Chickens, Cats and assorted wildlife. We also grow a lot of our own food, run courses in all sorts of things and make a lot of compost!

I am a Master Composter and have spent more than a decade as a volunteer Community Compost adviser with Garden Organic and my local Council.
I'm a self employed Environmental Educator so I run workshops and events where I talk about compost, veg growing, chicken keeping, cooking, preserving and sustainable living. I also run crafts workshops and Forest School/outdoor play sessions in our wood.

We try to live a more self sufficient lifestyle here, as best we can, while still having a comfortable life and lots of fun.

I have a new tent :)

Which is amazing and which I can stand up in :) No more bruised knees for me  when I am camping at a festival for a week or more :) :)

More TCTOP training

So today I went off to Colwall to do the next part of my Three Counties Traditional Orchard Champion training.

We spent some time in a wonderful traditional orchard

as well as Colwall Orchard Groups base and allotments.

This is their fabulous compost loo.

Visit by a friend :)

If you remember a post from two years ago you will recognize this tree and my pose.

Just a reminder of what I looked like then

Fabulous patterns on the Yew bark

Me looking a bit disheveled :)

The lovely friend :)

Needlefelting workshop at blue ginger galley with Celestine and The Hare

So my friend Di came to stay and we went off to blue ginger gallery for a needle felting workshop with Celestine and the Hare

And this is what happened :)

Not quite sure what I am going to make at this point!

Yes, decided now ...

This is my end creature - a reasonably faithful representation of the late, beloved Monty puss

Di made the very handsome fox :)

As always, an excellent day with Karin Celestine and blue ginger
