Hello and welcome to The Compost Bin. I'm Compostwoman and I live with my family in rural Herefordshire. We have nearly four acres of garden and woodland, all managed organically and to Permaculture principles, which we share with Chickens, Cats and assorted wildlife. We also grow a lot of our own food, run courses in all sorts of things and make a lot of compost!

I am a Master Composter and have spent more than a decade as a volunteer Community Compost adviser with Garden Organic and my local Council.
I'm a self employed Environmental Educator so I run workshops and events where I talk about compost, veg growing, chicken keeping, cooking, preserving and sustainable living. I also run crafts workshops and Forest School/outdoor play sessions in our wood.

We try to live a more self sufficient lifestyle here, as best we can, while still having a comfortable life and lots of fun.

Making a start

Making a start on clearing out the polytunnel.

But it was gloomy and cold and doing it one handed was difficult, so I gave up (for now) and went inside to get warm

Signs of Spring.

This has made me feel SO much more cheerful!

Still struggling with the effects of Long Covid (aches, depression, brain fog, shortage of breath and tiredness.)

Also, the bicep injury is still very painful and I can't do much.

However, look at these! So beautiful!

Things must improve soon, yes?

Arm injury

Blast. On top of everything else, I've somehow injured my bicep quite badly.

It started really hurting a few days ago, to the point where I was crying with pain, even if I didn't move it.

A telephone consultation with a locum GP, and I was asked to come in for a face to face examination. Was actually a bit freaked out about this because, well Covid and Lockdown and the whole notgoingoutverymuchfornearlyayear.

Anyway, I went, he was lovely, I've done a mischief and have to rest it and take painkillers. And I've been referred  for a scan at the local Hospital asap.

Although, that is up to the Consultant who reviews my notes,. So I might not get one, after all.
