Hello and welcome to The Compost Bin. I'm Compostwoman and I live with my family in rural Herefordshire. We have nearly four acres of garden and woodland, all managed organically and to Permaculture principles, which we share with Chickens, Cats and assorted wildlife. We also grow a lot of our own food, run courses in all sorts of things and make a lot of compost!

I am a Master Composter and have spent more than a decade as a volunteer Community Compost adviser with Garden Organic and my local Council.
I'm a self employed Environmental Educator so I run workshops and events where I talk about compost, veg growing, chicken keeping, cooking, preserving and sustainable living. I also run crafts workshops and Forest School/outdoor play sessions in our wood.

We try to live a more self sufficient lifestyle here, as best we can, while still having a comfortable life and lots of fun.

My (almost) zero waste day..cont...

Thank you to all of you for posting such encouraging, enthusiastic posts!

I am SO glad that you feel inspired to have a go at this as well!
And I would say GO FOR IT!!

And to those of you who though 20 g wasn't enough of a waste to do the forfeit...

well I DID produce some waste so I AM going to do it!

I shall sit in one of my compostbins, as promised...and I shall put up photographic evidence that I have done so..

But perhaps I shall sit in a relatively clean bin, as it WAS "only" 20 g of waste...?

;-)

  1. Thanks for the recent comment on my blog CW... I am in the process of writing another post but not finding much time to finish it... (hangs head in shame) Things have changed quite a lot in the past couple of weeks... and I have to say its not at all easy. I will explain more in my next post but will also email you personally prior to this with a full update.
Thanks so much for you kindness I really do appreciate your thoughts it means so much to me!!! Much more to say to you but will save it for my email to you...
As for sitting in a compost bin... well I think it would be a really great fun thing to do, but you are such a wonderful example to us all on how to compost and recycle and much, much more I really don't think you need to do this deed.... but if you insist... then maybe it would be nice to sit on a decent bit of clean cardboard or some fresh grass cuttings.....nothing like a good old larf!!! lol!!
Whatever you decide I am sure it will bring a smile to many...
    With Love, Jane xxx
