Hello and welcome to The Compost Bin. I'm Compostwoman and I live with my family in rural Herefordshire. We have nearly four acres of garden and woodland, all managed organically and to Permaculture principles, which we share with Chickens, Cats and assorted wildlife. We also grow a lot of our own food, run courses in all sorts of things and make a lot of compost!
I am a Master Composter and have spent more than a decade as a volunteer Community Compost adviser with Garden Organic and my local Council.
I'm a self employed Environmental Educator so I run workshops and events where I talk about compost, veg growing, chicken keeping, cooking, preserving and sustainable living. I also run crafts workshops and Forest School/outdoor play sessions in our wood.
We try to live a more self sufficient lifestyle here, as best we can, while still having a comfortable life and lots of fun.

Hi I work in a school and we have 3 hens we hatched ourselves, Scarlett, Henella and Daisy.
ReplyDeleteWe have to leave them in their run over the weekend instead of being out in the school garden the rest of the week, one of your feeders would be ideal for them as they have usually eaten most of the food from their current feeders between Friday and Monday morning. The children would be thrilled to think we may have an opportunity to win. Here's hoping Best wishes Elaine
You are in :) Good luck :)
DeleteThe outdoor feeder looks wonderful! i don't keep hens, so I guess I shouldn't be entering the competition, but I'm sure my garden birds could make good use of it.
ReplyDeleteBarbara x
If you are actually going to use it I am not bothered what sort of birds feed from it :)
DeleteI would love some new feeders and particularly the one with the lid. That one looks particularly useful! Some of my older feeders are starting to go a bit "funny" as the plastic has been outside in all weathers for years.
ReplyDeletethank you for finding such a useful giveaway.

ReplyDeleteI would love to win the Delux Outdoor feeder x
ReplyDeleteMy little boy would love this but also wishing good cluck to everyone else trying.
ReplyDeleteWe currently have 10 rescue hens and I'm pretty sure they'd love to be eating from one of those feeders as opposed the contraptions I have put together for them lol.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the opportunity to be in with a chance of winning one.
Good luck everyone and their chickens :)
I've always found it funny that chickens do actually prefer to eat and drink out of feeders and drinkers that have red somewhere on the design.
ReplyDeleteEven though we have galvanised drinkers as well, these are always the last to be drunk out of, they really do prefer the red plastic ones that I have to replace on a regular basis.
I know my 19 chatty chickens would love this! I wonder if it would keep the big geese noses out of it, as well? I bet it would with that cover! Good luck to all. :)
ReplyDeleteSorry, I didn't see that you have to live in the UK to participate. :(
DeleteMy old galvanised one is really past its best now and I love the design of the outdoor feeder. Whether I win one or not thank you for your informative and interesting posts!!
