Hello and welcome to The Compost Bin. I'm Compostwoman and I live with my family in rural Herefordshire. We have nearly four acres of garden and woodland, all managed organically and to Permaculture principles, which we share with Chickens, Cats and assorted wildlife. We also grow a lot of our own food, run courses in all sorts of things and make a lot of compost!

I am a Master Composter and have spent more than a decade as a volunteer Community Compost adviser with Garden Organic and my local Council.
I'm a self employed Environmental Educator so I run workshops and events where I talk about compost, veg growing, chicken keeping, cooking, preserving and sustainable living. I also run crafts workshops and Forest School/outdoor play sessions in our wood.

We try to live a more self sufficient lifestyle here, as best we can, while still having a comfortable life and lots of fun.

FiLiA Cardiff 2022

On lunch break at FiLiA, listening to Womens Health Physio Elaine Miller (aka GussetGrippers)

Funny, rude, honest, educational .

Then next day listening to the fabulous Hibo Wardere talking about #FGM and @E_NotMutilate #FiLiA2022.

So sad, and anger making.

This whole weekend in Cardiff has been inspirational.

Autumn harvest, and more groundworks.

Last of the tomatoes from the polytunnel

And getting towards the last of the beans ( thank goodness!)

Yet more apples. Not a brilliant year, tbh. See

This is putting a pipe from the pool into the main bypass pipe,  to divert the pool level, so it doesn't overflow in heavy rain.

Wales day 5, then homeward bound

Came home from Wales on Saturday, after some time spent at a couple of glorious Pembrokeshire beaches.

First time I've actually gone on the beach at Newgale! It's somewhere I always drive through on my way to St David's, or Trefin, so this time I decided to take the coast road back and explore a bit.

I ate my packed lunch looking out on this glorious view.

Of course the weather turned beautiful, the day I went home.

Ah well, I had a much needed break.

Post COVID I'm still rather weak , but being in Wales, as always made me feel much better!
