An afternoon in the Golden Valley

It was a fine, if cold afternoon so we went to visit Arthur's Stone 

 Then to nearby Snodhill Castle. A brisk walk up to the top of the hill it stands on, with a spectacular view across the valley below.

You must get have seen both these sites on various "Digging for Britain" programmes on BBC.

Well worth a visit!

Lots of Herons.

Just drove back home, through Stretton Grandison, past a flat, flooded, arable field. Shallow pool of surface water, covered in Crows, and 10 Herons!

Not quite sure what they were doing, small stream nearby unlikely to have provided many fish or amphibians to eat when it burst its banks, possibly lots of drowned worms from the heavy clay field?

Or curiosity at the sudden appearance of a "new" pool?

anyone, any ideas?

Crafts with a friend

Had a lovely couple of days recently with a friend visiting, we spent a day crafting and made Mosaics and Folk Art wooden plaques, as well as glass painting tea light holders and using various different makes of acrylic pens to decorate wood cookies made from trees grown in Moors Wood (my woodland)
