M and S plastic bag petition

I am a regular poster on the 'It's Not Easy Being Green' forum and there has been much discussion on there about the M & S decision to charge for their plastic bags. As a result a petition has been created by members of the internet forum asking M & S to cease providing plastic bags altogether. Although it was set up with the blessing and support of the forum owner and management, the views expressed are those of the individual signatories.

The petition asks that Marks and Spencer give serious consideration to ceasing the practice of supplying plastic bags with purchases, either free or charged for. There are severe environmental issues surrounding their production and disposal so the only safe and sensible option is to no longer supply them at all but to continue with sales of cloth bags.

As someone who loathes and detests plastic bags, the damage they do, the resources that are wasted in their production AND the "throwaway" mentality they encourage, I am very happy to put up this link on my blog!

Blasted Rats get their own back...........

Do you remember I posted about our rat problem?? I was SO pleased to have stopped them getting in to the hen run and house.........

But they have had their revenge!

Wild Daffs!!

I mentioned in "Kinky Daffodils" that the wild daffodils in the wood didn't seem to be so susceptible to being knocked over by the gales. We have had some VERY strong winds and torrential rain here last night and today...fortunately no lasting damage so far....but I thought I had better show you how lovely the wild daffodils DO look, just in case we get more bad weather tonight and they get flattened, too!!










Oh and I have JUST spotted some VERY early bluebells in the wood!!

Wild weather.....

In view of the weather warnings for our area from the Met Office today for the next few days.....I have weighted down the garden polytunnels, crop covers, geotextile etc...and the empty Dalek compost bin, and put away anything which might blow away into the lean to...

and we have got the generator ready and filled up the oil lamp, checked we have some water stored up as we are on a borehole powered by electricity which the generator can't manage to pump, and just generally prepared for the worst. BUT we will hope for the best!!

Its battern down the hatches time I guess!! Hope everything stays safe, and that you who are reading this blog are all ok !!

Funny weather!!

Well in advance of the coming big storm, we had some brilliant sunshine here today AND some torrential downpours!!



We had no less than 4 separate different rainbows throughout the day!

and the washing was in and out so much it was practically singing the "hokey cokey"

Twas more like April than early March tho' ;)
