Hello and welcome to The Compost Bin. I'm Compostwoman and I live with my family in rural Herefordshire. We have nearly four acres of garden and woodland, all managed organically and to Permaculture principles, which we share with Chickens, Cats and assorted wildlife. We also grow a lot of our own food, run courses in all sorts of things and make a lot of compost!

I am a Master Composter and have spent more than a decade as a volunteer Community Compost adviser with Garden Organic and my local Council.
I'm a self employed Environmental Educator so I run workshops and events where I talk about compost, veg growing, chicken keeping, cooking, preserving and sustainable living. I also run crafts workshops and Forest School/outdoor play sessions in our wood.

We try to live a more self sufficient lifestyle here, as best we can, while still having a comfortable life and lots of fun.

Update

Foot slightly improved but still very painfil and I cannot get my boots, shoes or wellies on.

Nor can I actually walk properly on my foot. So I have not been outside in the 4 inches of snow today at all.

I have sorted out lots of work stuff on the computer and have tidied up the crafting stuff...but I WANT to get on with the garden! I could have been in the polytunnel today!
Bloody foot. Bloody thorn. Bloody hell.

Am pissed off.

  3. I am so sorry about your sore foot! Did your husband actually get the thorn out??

I am feeling your pain about not being able to get out to the garden. I should be pruning fruit trees now, but my sore hips hardly let me stand up, let alone climb a ladder with pruners! It is making me nuts since the snow is finally gone and the temperatures are in the "lovely" range.

Take good care of your foot and get to a professional if it doesn't improve soon. Can't get to far behind with the outdoor fun stuff!

Oh! And take two jelly beans and call me in the morning. That should help!
