Hello and welcome to The Compost Bin. I'm Compostwoman and I live with my family in rural Herefordshire. We have nearly four acres of garden and woodland, all managed organically and to Permaculture principles, which we share with Chickens, Cats and assorted wildlife. We also grow a lot of our own food, run courses in all sorts of things and make a lot of compost!

I am a Master Composter and have spent more than a decade as a volunteer Community Compost adviser with Garden Organic and my local Council.
I'm a self employed Environmental Educator so I run workshops and events where I talk about compost, veg growing, chicken keeping, cooking, preserving and sustainable living. I also run crafts workshops and Forest School/outdoor play sessions in our wood.

We try to live a more self sufficient lifestyle here, as best we can, while still having a comfortable life and lots of fun.

A disappointing auction and a sad sort of day

Twas not very good stuff and what was, went for a lot of money.
Am a bit depressed actually, by both the circumstances of the sale ( friends break up of marriage, so business break up as well) and the lack of stuff we managed to purchase.

Oh well, we will get the stuff we need, eventually.

Just a bit sad about the whole thing, today.

  1. Hi,

Love the new driveway, it looks sooo good now.

We moved to Birmingham at the end of June last year, as both my parents are ill & need help. Boy, do I miss the Countryside, but we are quite blessed as we have lots of green space where we are & I'm trying to get my garden sorted out, live frugally & greenly & we are getting there slowly.
Congrats on the new business venture as well.

Will try & keep up again

    Kim

  2. Meh, that's pretty depressing, agreed; maybe you might be able to get a better price if they calm down a bit - the prices were probably too high due to desperation. Could you make an offer maybe? If you explained you really want to help but it's just too expensive - if they lower you'll happily take it off their hands. It's an uncomfortable situation (yeah, I know) but hope all settles well.

I slept for five hours today! Insane, but crikey did I need it. You "sound" (type?) pretty exhausted so hope you get your rest time in.
