1 Yesterday we went and got 2 new hens Rhode Rocks, very pretty and sweet
2 Thank you Compostman for going along with my desire for more hens!

5 IT WAS SUNNY TODAY!
6 I managed ( finally! after 3 weeks! ) to mow the lawns!
(Compostwoman does a tired but merry jig around the computer)
7 Kittens have learnt to use the outer cat flap today and have been running in and out, playing all day...but they STILL come to see us for cuddles regularly which is good.
8 I got a load of cardboard sheets and a kettle from Freecycle. The kettle is a bit grungy but will clean up and is for use on the open fire when we are in the wood
Ahhh more chooks. We're down to 2 but still thinking of getting a couple of bovan nera or bluebell hybrids followed by a couple of ex-batts. Just developed an irrational fear of vet bills though, so am stalling!
ReplyDeleteWe've got 2 more too - old ones from friends who are away alot over the next few weeks and thought it was easier to give us their hens than for us to go over every day to feed them. So from zero hens in May we are now up to 20 mixed hens and cockerels (+ 5 turkeys). This poultry keeping lark is addictive!

Hi there, any idea how I can dry my chillies, other than a dehydrator? They are still green...
ReplyDeleteHello all!
ReplyDeleteSoL...I don't know how you would dry chiilis other than stringing them and letting them dry in the sun..( what's that I hear you cry!!)
L@SS Hmmn the new hens are being mercilestly pecked by the top two bad girls Attila and Genghis Hen
Rosie...I am really hoping the Silver Dorking chicks hatch!!!
