Another glorious day yesterday! What is the weather doing? This is the best weather we have had since April, certainly better than anything the so called summer provided. I WISH I had left the sweetcorn on the plants now, they might have ripened a bit more!
I have been out in the garden again ( no surprise there!) and in between various hen and vegetable related chores I took some random shots of colourful things around our garden.I hope you like them.

Bryony berries climbing up a clump of bamboo. Beautiful but dangerous!
These are rose hips! They climb up a contorted willow in the wood, and these are at least 20 feet in the air! I guess the lack of light has made the wild rose scramble to the sky.
Thank you so much for posting those lovely photographs! A real treat to view. I love the Spindle Bush, I have never heard or seen one before. Another on my one day to purchase list!!

Interesting to see we weren't the only ones who had a lousy summer! We did manage a dinner of sweet corn last night, but it was not our own. We had to get ours from a friend down the road!

ReplyDeleteI am glad the photos give you pleasure Jane, as I got a comment from elsewhere recently that I was just "showing off" the things I have by photographing them? and I should stop it.....
I never thought of it in that light :-$ I like what I do and what I see around me and so I want to share my delight ( and sometimes the hard bits) with other interested people! I must say I was a bit suprised to be told this comment ( it wasn't posted on here btw...)
I would HATE to think that was how it made folk feel....that it made them envious or unhappy, rather than just enjoying looking at the pictures....and reading my randon witterings and compost related life!
So THANK YOU for your praise, it has made me feel a bit better!

ReplyDeletemm sweetcorn...We are about to eat the last 4 cobs, and then its all over fresh for another year....
Still, our own leeks are nearly ready ( well they ARE ready to eat, except they are quite thin yet, so we are leaving them to thicken up a bit!)
It was nice here today as well, sunny and warm. I got 2 loads of washing dried!

I love, as many others do the antics of your girls, your veggies, the wood, composting, things you do in your home and much, much, much more, the photographs bring it to life. I think its great you and your OH are doing so much in the aid of conservation and all the other wonderful things you do... so PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not let the moronic person (for want of a better description)deter you from doing something so beautiful!!

ReplyDeleteI didn't take the comment too seriously at the time but when I realised what the person had actually said, I began to wonder if there was any truth in the comment..?
I DON'T post to make people envious.....( as if? what a strange thought? are there people who do? )so I shall put the comment to one side and move on.
